BETRAYAL and the outrageous position of the RA Foreign Ministry: “Rights of Karabakh residents dropped from settlement agenda following dissolution decree”

After the promulgation of the decree on the forced displacement of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and the dissolution of Nagorno-Karabakh, this issue has been removed from the agenda of normalization of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the RA Foreign Ministry said in response to an inquiry by “Azatutyun”.

Azerbaijani President Aliyev said at a joint press conference with the German president that the main obstacle in the negotiations was that until January 2024, “Armenia persistently tried to include the so-called ‘fate of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’ in the peace treaty,“Azatutyun” asked the Foreign Ministry if this was true.

“We have repeatedly stated in the past that in the course of negotiations with Azerbaijan, Armenia seeks to ensure the security and rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, including the establishment of an international mechanism to resolve these issues. Attempts to organize meetings between representatives of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh in third countries, which were rejected by Nagorno-Karabakh, were aimed at the same.

After the promulgation of the decree on the forced displacement of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and the dissolution of Nagorno-Karabakh, this issue was removed from the agenda of the settlement of interstate relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the ministry replied.
